Chris is a native of Houston, Tx. He attended Sam Houston State University where he graduating in 2001 with a degree in Criminal Justice. That same year, he began his career in Law Enforcement with the Arlington Police Department. He spent 21 years as a patrol officer before joining the Behavioral Health Law Enforcement Unit in June of 2022. He has a Master Peace Officer license and spent 3 years working as a field training officer. He is also a coordinator in reality based scenario training for basic recruit classes, providing recruits end of phase training and testing prior to entering field training.
Chris is a Certified TCOLE instructor. He has been a lead instructor for Crisis Intervention Training for the last 6 years as well as Suicide Prevention for Law Enforcement, Traumatic Brain injury, Crisis intervention for Jailers ,Crisis Intervention for Call Take and Dispatch. Over the last few years he has specialized in subjects such as communicating with people n crisis, deinstitutionalization, and digital media creation to assist with continuing education for veteran officers as well as content to highlight the ever increasing need for behavior health intervention at the organizational level.
In 2022, he was awarded a scholarship and was recognized by the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals at the ATAP summer conference. He has since attended additional conferences and trainings related to the burgeoning field of Threat Assessment in Law Enforcement as well as private industry. Chris currently specializes in investigations related to abuse and exploitation of mentally ill and disabled individuals in group homes.
