Kelly Land currently works for the Arlington Police Department's Behavioral Health Law Enforcement Unit as a crisis intervention specialist. She graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2013 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Kelly is pursuing a Licensed Masters Social Work degree through the University of Texas at Arlington with a focus in mental illness and substance use. Before joining BHLEU, she worked in disability services with intellectually and developmentally delayed individuals (IDD) and Autism (ASD) at MHMR from Dec. 2013 – April 2022.
Kelly began her career with a crisis response team for the IDD/ASD population in 2015 and became a certified crisis coordinator in 2016. In 2019, she became the Assistant Director for the Tarrant County IDD crisis program. In 2020 she became the Senior Director of the IDD crisis program for Tarrant County MHMR.She has extensive training in the biopsychosocial model, trauma-informed care, and positive psychology. Kelly continues her passion for community awareness through training and outreachwith local police and fire departments, school districts, hospitals, and colleges. She also continues to broaden her knowledge by attending training courses as well as presenting at trainings. She has been recognized as a specialist in the field of disability services in Texas with a focus on group home (licensed and unlicensed).
